The 2025 Zanzibar Global School-Based Student Health Survey (GSHS) and Global School Health Policies and Practices Survey (G-SHPPS) provide the most comprehensive assessment to date of adolescent health behaviours and school health environments in Zanzibar. The GSHS survey in Zanzibar included the standard core group of students aged 13–17 years but also captured responses from students younger than 13 years and those older than 17 years in order to provide a more comprehensive picture of health behaviours and school-related risk and protective factors across the wider student population. The G-SHPPS assessed school-level infrastructure, policies, and services related to health promotion, WASH, safety, physical education, and governance. Together, these surveys provide a robust national baseline to guide multisectoral actions for improving school health and student wellbeing.
