AIDS education is increasingly being done at the university level, as recognition that university students are at high risk for contracting HIV has increased. This article looks at how risk communication should be done at this level. It discusses the role of education in preventing HIV infection (including the dangers and risks of education), inhibitors of risk reduction among students (including innocence and experience, developmental issues, and societal influences on risk behavior) and aspects of effective risk reduction education (student involvement in planning and implementation, accounting for student body diversity, and marketing risk reduction).
