This study was commissioned following a need to conduct in-depth analysis and document the way HIV and AIDS is mainstreamed in the national school curriculum in Rwanda and formulate comprehensive recommendations to the identified gaps. The objectives of the consultancy were: To assess the mainstreaming of HIV and AIDS in school curricula and its implementation in primary and secondary schools in Rwanda; To conduct in-depth analysis and document the way HIV and AIDS is mainstreamed in the national school curriculum; To identify gaps which need to be addressed for the comprehensive mainstreaming of HIV and AIDS in the national school curriculum in the defined levels; To formulate comprehensive recommendations for mainstreaming HIV and AIDS in the national school curriculum; To recommend methodology for mainstreaming HIV and AIDS in school curricula.
