In Ghana, even though it is acknowledged that pregnancies occur among school girls, there are no standard procedures for handling pregnant school girls or dealing with young mothers who want to return to school after childbirth.
Interventions to reduce unmet need for contraception and early and unintended pregnancies among adolescents should be critical components of family planning programs in developing countries.
These global international standards summarize the currently available scientific evidence, describing interventions and policies that have been found to result in positive prevention outcomes and their characteristics.
The international evidence is clear.
The Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) in Emergencies toolkit aims to provide streamlined guidance to support organizations and agencies seeking to rapidly integrate MHM into existing programming across sectors and phases.
The Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) toolkit is a practical guide providing information on MHM at schools. The toolkit together with the accompanying MHM National Guidelines were developed by the MHM Thematic Working Group under the lead of the Ministry of General Education (MoGE).
The purpose of these guidelines is to make an evidence-based Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) resource available that gives guidance on MHM programming to stakeholders involved in providing a safe and appropriate school environment through improvements in WASH infrastructure and services.
This Guide supports organizations working on MHM to encourage all girls and women to adopt safer menstrual hygiene practices. It also demonstrates how to work with communities and implement concrete actions for effective menstrual management.
