In 2018, UNICEF Eastern and Southern Africa conducted a regional scoping study and deep dive to assess the status of WASH services in schools and related gaps to scale-up in the region. The 2018 scoping study builds upon findings from two past situational analyses in the region, published in 2013 and 2017 respectively, and presents the most up-to-date synopsis of the enabling environment for sustainable WASH in schools programming in the 21 countries in the region.
