This paper was commissioned by the UNESCO Regional Office for Southern Africa as background document to inform the adaptation of Connect with Respect, a classroom programme aiming to prevent violence in schools.

The Safeguard Young People Programme has been implemented by UNFPA and its regional and national partners since November 2013 in eight Southern African countries.

In answer to the urgency to address adolescents’ and youth’s SRHR needs in Burundi, a consortium of CARE, UNFPA, Cordaid and Rutgers is implementing the joint programme “Menyumenyeshe” (2016-2020).

The COVID-19 pandemic has wreaked unprecedented havoc on children, families and communities around the globe, disrupting vital services and putting millions of lives at risk. Since March, attempts to avert the global health crisis have seen nationwide school closures in 194 countries.

The annual report provides a snapshot of how End Violence worked with partners to act as a global platform for change – catalysing new political commitments, investing new resources, and equipping practitioners across the world.
