This technical brief outlines key policy and programme landscape, trends and challenges related to adolescent pregnancy in South Asia. The action plan proposes an ambitious, multi-sectoral, multi-agency plan (2024-2030) to prevent adolescent pregnancies and provide better care for married, pregnant and parenting adolescents in South Asia. The action plan outlines seven priority areas and key strategic interventions to address the needs of pregnant and parenting adolescents comprehensively. These include policy review and reform, improved programme implementation, reaching adolescent girls through multiple platforms, and putting in place health and nutrition services tailored to the needs of pregnant and parenting adolescents, supported by a network of healthcare workers and referral linkages.
