This document is the eighth volume of a series of eight question and answers booklets developed in Kyrgyzstan by UNICEF and the GTZ. Similar booklets have been initially developed by GTZ in Tanzania and then adapted to different countries. The present series consists in an adaptation to the needs and cultural context of Kyrgyzstan, based on an inquiry realized among Kyrgyz adolescents. It is designed to equip young people with the necessary knowledge to make healthy choices for themselves and their peers. The series contain basic facts about human physiology and reproduction, sexuality, prevention of unwanted pregnancies, HIV/STIs, drugs & alcohol. This eighth volume deals with 30 questions about HIV & AIDS and STIs. Some of the questions asked are the following: "What are HIV & AIDS?", "Can a healthy looking person be infected with HIV?", "Is it possible to get infected with HIV by a mosquito?", "How do people living with HIV feel?", "How can I know that I am infected by HIV?", ...The answers vary on length but all provide clear and precise information on the matter.
