The overarching goal of this Policy is to provide broad guidelines for the coordination of all HIV and AIDS programmes in order to prevent new HIV infections and mitigate the impact of HIV and AIDS on the Education Sector. The Policy is guided by the 1992 Fourth Republican Constitution of Ghana, the National HIV and AIDS, STI Policy - 2013, the Education Strategic Plan (ESP) 2010 - 2020 and other government policies, international conventions and protocols, such as the ILO Recommendation concerning HIV and AIDS and the World of Work, 2010 (No. 200). This policy is organised under six thematic areas: Prevention of New Infections, Coordination and Management, Policy and Advocacy, HIV Treatment, Care and Support, Strategic Information and Funding Mechanisms.
