Well-trained, supporting and motivated teachers play a key role in the delivery of high-quality sexuality education. In this regard, UNFPA, the UN reproductive health and rights agency, in collaboration with the National Centre for Educational Development (NCED) and SISo Nepal, developed this teachers’ training package on comprehensive sexuality education (CSE). The teachers training package includes a five-day training module on six key concepts of International Technical Guidance on Sexuality Education along with the resource material for teachers on CSE. The five-day training package has been included as customized training into the Government of Nepal’s curriculum for teachers. Moreover, an abridged version of the training module has also been integrated into the 10-day long Teachers Professional Development (TPD) training meant for all the teachers who teach Health, Population and Environment courses. In addition, UNFPA will support NCED in rolling out the training package in 10 districts, developing a cadre of more than 200 trained teachers. With funding from DFAT, UNFPA is working with the government and non-government partners to enhance young people’s knowledge on CSE through formal and non-formal education in five districts — Baitadi, Bajhang, Rukum, Udayapur and Sindhuli.
