This publication summarizes the findings from the Reinvigorating Education Sector Responses to HIV and AIDS process in the SADC region, commissioned by UNESCO, UNICEF and the SADC Secretariat during the course of 2010.

Aim: To establish an overview of school-based interventions carried out to support the health and well-being of vulnerable children in Zimbabwe and similar socio-economic contexts in sub-Saharan Africa.

This paper assesses the extent to which HIV prevention interventions for young people in sub-Saharan Africa are grounded in theory and if theory-based interventions are more effective. Three databases were searched for evaluation studies of HIV prevention interventions for youth.
