This syllabus is an improvement of the existing 8-4-4 education syllabus and is available in two volumes. In order to remain relevant in the midst of the changing needs of the society, this new primary school curriculum has incorporated vital emerging issues, which include: industrial transformation of the country, environmental education, health issues like drug abuse and HIV and AIDS pandemic, gender issues, human rights, child's rights, moral values and social responsibility. The document provides both general and specific objectives for each grade. Its content is specifically spelt out so as to give guidance to the users. This volume contains the following subjects: Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Christian Religious Education, Islamic Religious Education and Hindu Religious Education.
