Les jeunes, la sexualité et le VIH/SIDA

This manual was created by young people between 15-30 years of age, who came from thirteen countries across Africa (Botswana, Burundi, Eritrea, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Rwanda, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia) to participate in the International Youth Camp that was held from 12th-26th August 2001, at Nakuru, District of Rift Valley Province in Kenya. It crystallizes their hopes of contributing to protect, preserve and enlighten a generation of youth facing threat of HIV and AIDS, substance abuse and STIs. It aims also to empower all infected and affected youth in Africa and other regions across the world and to raise awareness among them. This manual is divided into three parts: 1) Let us discover -intends to expose the issue for learning in a manner that captures the reader's attention; 2) Let us understand- thought provoking and meant to help the reader explore the issues under discussion; 3) Let us propose - includes questions by which the reader can express his/her views and propose solutions. It is designed to help the reader make informed decisions and can also be used as a guide for group discussions, as a reference for learning and teaching, as a brochure and a personal guide. Youths, aged 20 and above can use the manual by themselves while those below 20, would need older monitors to explain its contents. It is therefore suggested that the manual be used in classrooms; this way teachers can use it to upgrade existing teaching/learning methods.
