Webinar: New Directions for Assessing Menstrual Health and Hygiene in Schools: MENSES

menses

Date: Friday, 15th May 2020

  • Why is absenteeism not an easy outcome to measure with menstrual health and hygiene programs
  • What evidence exists regarding the effects of poor menstrual hygiene and girls’ education?
  • How is Save the Children monitoring MHH programs?

We will learn about the four phases of the development of the Menstrual-related Engagement, Self-Efficacy and Stress (MENSES) Assessment and evidence from the Philippines and Mexico. We will hear whether data from this instrument could be interpreted and provide consistent and meaningful information about school participation, stress, and self-efficacy—outcomes that have been qualitatively linked to girls’ experiences managing menstruation in school. The webinar commemorates Menstrual Hygiene Day (28th May) whose campaign symbol this year is the Menstruation Bracelet.
