UNICEF and partners are working to spark global action to help young people thrive, empowering governments, children, youth, their caregivers and communities with the training, tools and support they need to experience good mental health and psychosocial well-being. In 2024, UNICEF and partners delivered multisectoral mental health and psychosocial support, (MHPSS), to an estimated 58.4 million children, adolescents, and caregivers in over 76 countries requiring a humanitarian response. This impact was particularly evident in regions grappling with complex, overlapping crises. As armed conflicts, health emergencies and climate-related disasters put millions of children at risk of poor mental health and psychosocial outcomes, MHPSS emerged as a critical lifeline—helping children and caregivers cope with distressing events and laying the foundation for recovery and resilience.
