Participants met in Harare to brief each other on the HIV/AIDS initiatives they are implementing in their regions and to discuss ways to increase collaboration and networking between UNESCO, UNESCO Cluster Offices and UNAIDS Inter-Country Team for Eastern and Southern Africa. It was agreed that education needs to play an important role in the fight against HIV/AIDS, that the consequent roles of the cluster offices and UNAIDS should be clarified.Outcomes of the workshop include, among others, Increased ownership of the cluster offices in the development of the 'UNESCO Regional Plan for HIV/AIDS Education Sector in Sub-Saharan Africa.An agreement that more resources need to be put into the regional institutions of UNESCO. A consensus was reached on priority action areas, andconcrete, doable projects were suggested and agreed upon.
