The purpose of this SRHR Needs Assessment was to review progress on Samoa’s ICPD and MDG commitments to achieving universal access to reproductive health (MDG Target 5B), with particular focus on ensuring Samoan citizens’ SRHR are prioritised and maintained through all aspects of service planning and delivery. Areas of focus included access to family planning information and services, and to a range of appropriate commodities to meet the needs of all groups within communities. The Needs Assessment also explored the extent to which HIV prevention, counselling and management services are integrated with wider reproductive health services, and the availability and composition of services and processes within the formal health system for preventing and responding to gender-based physical and sexual violence. The consultative review and needs analysis sought to identify the extent to which SRHR are prioritised within the delivery of reproductive health, family planning and more general primary health care services, and to document gaps in SRHR service delivery.
