Girls' Education Challenge

This Brief collates information on GEC project approaches to Girl’s Clubs and the lessons drawn from their implementation.

This report summarises lessons learned by the GEC since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in early 2020. It also outlines the ‘principles’ which have guided action planning at every level and provides a timeline (including phases of response management) for effective action.

All 27 projects currently supported by the Girls’ Education Challenge have interventions to address sexual and reproductive health and rights (SHRH).

This Practice Brief focuses on the ways in which girls who are pregnant or parenting can be supported, so that they can thrive in education. This group of girls is often overlooked and under-researched. However, with the right support they can still make significant educational progress.

To capitalise on its vast portfolio of 41 projects, operating across 17 countries, the Girls’ Education Challenge (GEC) has compiled a wealth of project learning regarding key interventions related to girls’ education.

This briefing offers guidance on how to align the design, delivery, monitoring and evaluation of essential life skills programming for girls.
