A comprehensive situational analysis is essential to understanding the scope, prevalence, and underlying drivers of adolescent substance use in Belize. In partnership with UNICEF, the Ministry of Health & Wellness and the National Drug Abuse Control Council conducted this research to identify gaps in current interventions and inform evidence-based strategies to mitigate the impact of substance use among Belizean youth. The findings will offer critical guidance to policymakers, educators, healthcare professionals, and community leaders in designing and implementing targeted interventions that respond to the specific needs of adolescents. The final goal is to reduce the prevalence of substance use and its associated risks, improving the long-term health and well-being of Belize’s youth.
