Student mental health is inseparable from learning. The New York State Comprehensive School-Based Mental Health System briefs provide practical building blocks that school districts can use to establish, strengthen, and sustain comprehensive school-based mental health support. The briefs are informed by the comprehensive school mental health model developed by the National Center for School Mental Health. These briefs are intended primarily for district and school teams responsible for planning, implementing, and continuously improving school-based mental health and well-being supports for students and staff. Local boards of education and other stakeholders are encouraged to use these briefs as a starting point for setting priorities and strengthening policies and practices related to student wellness.
