Chapter 1: Defines what peer education is, the role of a peer educator and how peer education became recognized as an effective strategy for passing reproductive and sexual health messages to the youth. Chapter 2: Provides the justification for using peer education in changing attitudes and behaviour. Chapter 3: What research says about the peer approach- assessing its influence and impact on teen pregnancy prevention, STD/HIV/AIDS prevention, overall knowledge of reproductive and sexual health and its influence on peer educators, citing experiences from Cambodia, China, Ghana and India. Chapter 4: Compilation of lessons learned from many research studies, showing what makes a peer education programme successful. Chapter 5: Presents a series of guidelines to address different aspects of adolescent reproductive health intervention planning and implementation from project formulation to selecting and training peer educators; including tips for working with youth, adults and sample lesson plans from a peer educator's training manual.
