This document is the second volume in a series of eight "question and answer" booklets developed in Kyrgyzstan by UNICEF and the GTZ. Similar booklets have been initially developed by GTZ in Tanzania and then adapted to different countries. The present series consists of an adaptation to the needs and cultural context of Kyrgyzstan, based on a survey realized among Kyrgyz adolescents. It is designed to provide young people with the necessary knowledge to make healthy choices for themselves and their peers. The series contain basic facts about human physiology and reproduction, sexuality, prevention of unwanted pregnancies, HIV/STIs, drugs & alcohol. The present document deals with 31 questions about reproductive & sexual health, pregnancy and marriage. Some of the questions asked are the following: "At what age do menstruations begin?", "Is it possible to get pregnant during menstruations?", "At what age can we marry?",.Some questions deal with culturally sensitive issues and really take into account the cultural context of Kyrgyzstan. For example, one question is "Why girls cannot get married to whom they want, while boys can?" and the answer explains that unfortunately, this tradition persists in the Kyrgyz society, but that every girl is free to choose her husband and that it is even written in the legislation.
