Sexuality Information and Education Council of the United States, SIECUS

The PLSSE is divided into four domains: context for sex education, professional disposition, best practices, and key content areas. Each domain includes indicators related to educator’s knowledge of content, familiarity with teaching methods, and understanding of best practices.

The community action toolkit provides tools needed to become knowledgeable about sex education, build support in state or community, work to implement sound policies, and institute or defend effective sex education programs that support and affirm young people’s rights to honest information.

This report identifies bills from state legislatures across the country (introduced through May 31, 2018) and highlights notable activity related to either advancing or restricting progress toward comprehensive sexuality education.

For the past 22 years, SIECUS has tracked sexuality education controversies in the United States.

This document highlights the successful collaboration between SIECUS and Demysex (Democracia y Sexualidad) to advance sexual and reproductive health and rights throughout Mexico.

First published in 1991, the SIECUS guidelines have been translated into several languages and adapted in many countries. They were the first national model for comprehensive sexuality education in the United States.
