HIV/AIDS is the most devastating disease the world has ever encountered. Although present on every continent, it is not a democratic disease but one that shows a special penchant for the the most vulnerable members of society - women, the poor, and the young. This book is a wake-up call for the education sector in the Caribbean to rise to the fundamental challenge of tackling the disease head-on. It provides the impetus for educational efforts across the region to improve knowledge about the disease, develop the skills needed to act responsibly and creatively against it, promote living and co-operating with others in a caring, non-stigmatizing way, and foster the ability to make healthy and life-affirming choices.
