This document is a final workshop report of the Regional Training Workshop on situation analysis for comprehensive school health education programmes in the Arab states that took place at the American University of Beirut in June 2006. This workshop was jointly organized by UNESCO Office in Beirut and the American university of Beirut. It was part of the project "Follow up on FRESH Initiative" which is a joint cooperation between UNESCO and the Health Education Resource Unit, Faculty of Health Sciences, American university of Beirut. The objectives of the training were the following: to increase awareness of participants on Comprehensive School Health Programs (CSHP), to train participants on situation assessment techniques (quantitative and qualitative), to emphasize the importance of life skills and extra curricular activities within a CSHP, to promote networking among all involved in CSPH in the region. Nineteen participants from Yemen, Morocco, Bahrain, Lebanon, Tunis, Jordan, Oman, Sudan, Mauritania and Syria attented the training. The training emphasized the concept of CSHEP relevant at the regional level and within the FRESH framework. Eight sessions were implemented : extra curricular/ life skills, qualitative techniques, quantitative techniques, CSHEP, situation analysis, lessons learned/ revision of curriculum, case study : political context, case study : curriculum review. One of the recommendations was to develop a manual for a step by step approach to implement a situationanalyis for a CSHEP, at the community and school level.
