Review of educational programs on HIV prevention in Russia

The analytical study is based on the materials of the international seminar 'Challenges of XXI century. HIV/AIDS prevention in educational programs for children and youth' that was organized by the UNESCO Moscow Office and Moscow Department of Education on 5 July 2004 in Moscow. The great attention was paid to the questions of complex approach to the struggle with HIV, combination of medical and education programs, support to abandoned HIV-positive children. At the seminar it was emphasized that although there are three main branches involved in the fight to prevent HIV/AIDS medical, social and educational, the educational approach is the one that is most appropriate to preventive activities.
