Re-entry policies in other African countries: policy brief
It is established globally that girls encounter a myriad of problems at each age and every stage of their journey in education.

Children in sub-Saharan African countries face higher exposure to gender-based violence (GBV) compared to their counterparts in other world regions (United Nations Children’s Fund [UNICEF], 2014). When GBV occurs in schools, it severely endangers access to education.
The global community has committed to achieving universal access to sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) services, but how to do it remains a challenge in many low-income countries. Capacity development is listed as a means of implementation for Agenda 2030.
The present study considers how school violence and bullying is being addressed in Eastern and Southern Africa within policies and programmes in the region.
Violence against school children is a prevalent global issue. Despite the high prevalence of school violence in Zambia, there is limited research on students with disabilities’ experiences of school violence.
This report presents an overview of the findings from the analysis of data collected as part of the piloting of the Connect with Respect (CWR) programme in countries in eastern and southern Africa and the Asia Pacific region, including Zambia, Tanzania, Eswatini, Thailand, and Timor-Leste.
The testimonies collected provide a snapshot into the lived experiences of youth with disabilities, using methodology that empowers them to tell their own stories.
The Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) toolkit is a practical guide providing information on MHM at schools. The toolkit together with the accompanying MHM National Guidelines were developed by the MHM Thematic Working Group under the lead of the Ministry of General Education (MoGE).
The purpose of these guidelines is to make an evidence-based Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) resource available that gives guidance on MHM programming to stakeholders involved in providing a safe and appropriate school environment through improvements in WASH infrastructure and services.
This study was aimed at documenting the implementation of the Re-Entry Policy (REP) in Zambia with respect to Read to Succeed’s (RTS) contribution to policy intervention and efforts to improve girls’ education.
