The socio-economic burden of HIV infection remains a critical global health concern.

The YouthWise project’s overall aim is that adolescent and young people living with HIV (AYPLHIV), in all their diversity, are able to practise self-care and fulfil their SRHR and HIV needs, in a supportive and respectful environment.

Language influences the way we think, how we perceive reality, and how we behave. With respect to HIV, language can embody stigma and discrimination, which impacts access to testing, acquisition of HIV, and engagement with treatment.

Comprehensive sexuality education (CSE) is seen as a key instrument through which to affect behaviour and improve sexual and reproductive health (SRH) outcomes amongst adolescents. However, few studies have to date evaluated key SRH outcomes following exposure to CSE within a school setting.

A participatory process was convened that engaged over 100 young people in all regions to support the development of the definition.

Good mental health and psychosocial wellbeing is especially important for adolescents during their transition to adulthood. It can support resilience and help initiate healthy behaviours that shape long-term positive health outcomes.
