184 p.

The document is prepared for teachers in the Caribbean, specifically in Jamaica. It includes a series of activities to make learning fun and to provide a positive environment in which students can develop the skills required to make healthy life choices, maintain behaviour that promotes good health and support a better society through the training of teachers and the development of a Health and Family Life Education (HFLE) curriculum. The objective of this methodology is to help children develop life skills through practice in the classroom in order to improve decision-making in their personal and public lives. The purpose of this document is also to enable students, through a life skills-focused education process, to achieve their potential and assure their healthy contribution to the social, cultural and economic development of Jamaica. The document reflects the HFLE Regional Curriculum Framework for ages 9 to 14 and its content is developed around the same four themes: - sexuality and sexual health; - self and interpersonal relationships; - appropriate eating and fitness; - managing the environment.
