This Minimum guidelines for WASH in ECD learning centres aims to ensure cost-effective, appropriate and safe WASH services, including facilities, for children aged 3-6 years in the three levels of ECD learning centres in Rwanda - Model ECD Centres, cost-effective ECD Centres and Home-based ECD Centres. This document is a resource to be used by partners when constructing ECD centres and improving existing WASH facilities and services; to ensure considerations of young children are factored into WASH service development and usage. The document is not intended to set standards but rather to guide efforts, defining the minimum needs of young children and their caregivers with gender considerations in the three settings. This document was developed based on existing experience, with consideration of different views from the satisfaction of caregivers and staffing or parents and best practices.
