This report was commissioned by the Inter-Agency Task Team (IATT) on Children affected by HIV and AIDS' working group on National Plans of Action (NPAs).
The document is prepared for teachers in the Caribbean, specifically in Jamaica.
Current interest in cross-generational sex is largely due to the feminization of the HIV and AIDS epidemic.
UNESCO's Teacher Training Initiative in Sub-Saharan Africa (TTISSA) is a new 10-year project to improve the quality and teacher training capacities in 46 sub-Saharan countries.
Presently 50% of the adult population is illiterate in 17 of African countries (Benin, Burkina Faso, Central African Republic, Chad, Democratic Republic of Congo, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Gambia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Madagascar, Mali, Mozambique, Niger, Senegal and Sierra-Leone).
This history syllabus is designed for junior schools in Lesotho and is made for three forms (A, B and C) corresponding to the grades of junior school. Forms A and B do not mention HIV and AIDS.
The Junior Certificate Syllabus integrates environmental issues, population and family life education.
