This education booklet is produced by Soul City under the multimedia health and development programme and is aimed at 12-18 year old young people in South Africa, Botswana, Lesotho, Namibia and Swaziland. It addresses the HIV and AIDS pandemic in sub-saharan Africa by positively informing adolescents about sexual behaviours in order to reduce teenage pregnancy, HIV and other STD's. It deals with a range of issues that affect and has impact on sexual decisions and choices that young people make. This magazine is intended both for individual use, as well as, supplementary teaching material on HIV and AIDS. It includes written stories dealing with a range of relevant life skills issues, guidance and advice. Also included at the back of the magazine is a page on available resource centers and support groups. The content of this booklet could be easily used by educators, teachers and teenagers in secondary school, as it tackles different practical issues such as: 1) Why is HIV still spreading? 2) Unprotected sex can lead to HIV and AIDS; 3) HIV and AIDS and STIs; 4) HIV and AIDS and babies; 5) How do I know if I am HIV positive? 6) Live positively with HIV and AIDS; 7) Care and support for people who are HIV positive; 8) Preventing infections at home; 9) Treating common sicknesses at home; 10) Things to do while you are strong and 11) List of places to help you.
