"Sara" is a very popular children's educational comic strip. The charismatic heroine of the series is an adolescent girl living in urban Africa. Like many girls of her age, she faces insurmountable socio-cultural and economic obstacles in her desire to attain her goals in life. Consisting of seven volumes, the stories aimed at young female and male adolescents from 12 to 18 years of age in or outside school can also be used at secondary school level. In this booklet titled: 'The trap,' the Sara character is seen as a communication tool on the issue on sexual exploitation of children. Many parents cannot afford school fees, and proper nutrition, older men, or the so called "Sugar daddies" try to capitalize on such situations and sexually exploit young girls. This issue is meant to promote children's rights on sexual exploitation and may also be used to discuss the sexual exploitation of young boys. Teachers, educators and social workers will find this booklet particularly useful.
