This Workshop manual was developed to sensitise school governing bodies (SGBs) about the South African School Based Sexuality and HIV Prevention Education Activity as it impacts on school and policy framework in line with role and responsibilities of SGB. At the end of the Workshop participants will be able to: a) Explain what comprehensive sexuality education is and articulate what parents need to know; b) Discuss the challenges that affect the health and well-being of school-going children and youth, with regard to both their immediate and future health; c) Describe the roles and responsibilities of the SGBs within the School Based Sexuality and HIV Prevention Education Activity; d) Outline the Policies that address the health needs of school-going children and youth.
