This brief aims to recommend a mandatory nationwide CSE program that allows students to make informed decisions about their experiences through puberty and beyond, providing stability and security in their health and wellbeing. Comprehensive sexual education (CSE) is a form of sexual education that ensures students learn in depth about reproductive health practices, anatomy and physiology, contraceptive options, sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and diseases (STDs), sexual orientations, gender identities, sexual and romantic abuse, and bodily autonomy. Many sexual education programs currently in place in the United States put the focus primarily on encouraging abstinence and STI/STD prevention, which neglects many topics that are critical to the health and safety of individuals.
