This toolkit will help raise awareness about the important role parents and caregivers play in discussing sexual health with their children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The toolkit covers four topics: 1) Parent–Child Communication; 2) Adolescent Development; 3) Internet Safety; 4) Sexual Assault. For each topic, the toolkit includes resources designed to be easily shared, via social media, by networks of parents and caregivers, as well as by organizations that serve youth with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families. The resources support parents and caregivers by acknowledging the importance of discussing these topics with their children, providing information about how and when to have these conversations with youth, and linking to other resources that offer information, guidance, and support.
