Presently 50% of the adult population is illiterate in 17 of African countries (Benin, Burkina Faso, Central African Republic, Chad, Democratic Republic of Congo, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Gambia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Madagascar, Mali, Mozambique, Niger, Senegal and Sierra-Leone).
The high prevalence of HIV among young people in African countries underscores a pressing need for effective prevention interventions.
The purpose of this note is to further update the data on teacher deaths in five high HIV prevalence countries, namely Botswana, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania and Zambia.
