This document summarizes the discussions and most relevant recommendations made during a meeting of experts that immediately followed the Experts Consultation on Comprehensive Sexuality Education in Mexico City on 1-2 September, 2009.
The workshop was organized under the auspices of an ILO-initiated programme during 2004-2005 to enhance a sectoral approach to HIV/AIDS education sector workplaces, as a complement to the ILO's Code of Practice on HIV/AIDS in the world of work, adopted in 2001.
The objective of the seminar was to exchange successful experiences carried out on education for preventing HIVAIDS at the Central American level and; to generate regional strategies for advancing the prevention action with high impact within the framework of the national Education for all plans.
The document "HIV/AIDS: The Power of Education" transcribes the speeches pronounced by different specialists at the opening ceremony of the UNICA/UWI/UNESCO Conference on HIV/AIDS and Education, in October 29, 2003.
This document reaffirms the goal of education for all as laid out by the World Conference on Education for All (Jomtien, Thailand, 1990) and other international conferences.
This document is a synthesis report on a workshop on the impact of HIV/AIDS on education that was held at the IIEP in December 1993.
