This case study provides a comprehensive overview of the school feeding programs in Mali. First, it briefly describes the intertwined challenges faced by the education system, including low enrollment, high dropout rates, and food insecurity. Second, it documents the various country initiatives aimed at improving child nutrition and education, such as the National School Feeding Policy (PNAS), the Home-Grown School Feeding (HGSF) program, and partnerships with organizations like the World Food Programme (WFP), the World Bank (WB) and Catholic Relief Services (CRS). Finally, the document concludes with recommendations for enhancing and sustaining school feeding initiatives in Mali. A supportive political environment, robust financial capacity, effective coordination mechanisms involving various sectors, and a strong community participation are considered as key success factors to ensure that children receive nutritious meals and support for their education and overall well-being.
