The Guidance Note provides principles and practical recommendations to guide national governments and their partners in the elaboration of a national Sustainability Strategy for school feeding. The Guidance Note follows the following Structure: Section 1 explains school feeding and the rationale for governments to establish nationally-owned sustainable school feeding programmes. Section 2 explains the purpose, goals and core components of a Sustainability Strategy. Section 3 explains how to prepare an evidence-based national Sustainability Strategy for school feeding in a participatory manner. Section 4 provides an example of an outline of a Sustainability Strategy and discusses the content to be included under each section. Annexes provide additional materials that will assist governments to develop a national Sustainability Strategy in their own country.
