This is the report of the 2nd MUFPP Asia Pacific Regional Forum which took place in Bangkok on 3-4 December 2024 on the theme “Nourishing growing cities: enhancing school meals and supporting local communities“. The Forum stands to explore the significance of school meals programmes for urban food policies, and their integration with urban agricultural practices, strategies to tackle food waste and donations to food banks. School meals programmes represent an opportunity to intervene in multiple aspects of urban food systems. Therefore the Forum revolve around three main issues to support the local communities: (1) School meals programmes which are a powerful driver of food policies through which cities can achieve multiple cascading objectives. (2) Urban Agriculture as a lever to engage local farmers and enhance food security. (3) Food Bank & Food Waste Management to improve the circularity of our food systems.
