A report of the Workshop on Essential Questions, Essential Tools convened in Cairo, Egypt, 13-14 October 1999, by Population Council, and the International Center for Research on Women (ICRW) to learn more about the nature of both younger and older adolescents; work experience, and to differentiate the particular needs and potentials of adolescent girls. The agenda of the workshop are: What is livelihood approach?; Where are adolescents working?, girls' work and the policy and normative environment; How do adolescent girls experience their working conditions?; What contribution does working make to their "adolescence'?; and What is the programme experience to date in supporting and/or generating livelihoods for adolescent girls.
