Policies & Strategies

33 p.

Development of this policy analysis report was meant to review the policy framework and implementation related to Adolescent and Youth Sexual Reproductive Health (AYSRH) in Kenya. The analysis process entailed a thorough and critical analysis of legislations, policies, and guidelines related to AYSRH and also identified key gaps in policy and legal frameworks and provided recommendations to inform strategic decision making. Besides the critical review of policies, it involved further analysis of data from the Kenya Demographic Health Survey (KDHS) of 2014 that informed the current status and magnitude of the adolescent and sexual reproductive issues. The report is organized along five sexual and reproductive health issues that contribute to teenage pregnancy, namely; Alcohol and Substance Abuse, Female Genital Mutilation, Education and Training, Child Marriage and Sexual Gender Based Violence.
