Because Pakistan is in a concentrated epidemic driven by injecting drug users and male and hijra (transgender) sex workers, a campaign was launched. In addition, Pakistan has one of the largest cohorts of young people in the world - 60% of the nearly 160,000,000 are under the age of 24 years.

A dearth of information on situation of adolescents exists in Pakistan and there is little evidence on which to build policies and programmes.

The National HIV Prevention Strategy for Young People in Pakistan lays out the situation of young people in Pakistan, an understanding of their vulnerabilities and risk to HIV and a strategic framework targeted to stem the current trend of the epidemic and to protect young people from potential r
