The launch of this Education Sector HIV and AIDS Policy is a manifestation of the Ministry of Education's commitment to fighting HIV and AIDS in the education sector as its contribution toward the national multi-sectoral response as well as the Poverty Reduction Strategy (PRS). The availability of HIV and AIDS Policy for the Education Sector will better help to strengthen greater partnerships with stakeholders and broaden the understanding of roles between education service providers in the fight against the pandemic. This HIV/AIDS Policy of the Education sector, which is aligned with the National Strategic Framework (NSF 2010-2014), also formalize the rights and responsibilities of every stakeholder involved, directly and indirectly, in the education sector with regard to HIV/AIDS: the learners, their parents and caregivers, educators, managers, administrators, support staff and civil society.
