Plano estratégico de combate ao HIV/SIDA 2003-2005

In 2002, it is estimated that 1.9 million people are living with HIV in Mozambique and that 830,000 of these are young people aged less than 24. In 1999, the government drew up "A Strategic Plan for the Fight against AIDS for 2000-2002". This revised plan that is now proposed is to cope with a new context, drawing on the results of impact studies undertaken by the Ministry of Education. The general objective of the strategy is to educate the school community and the managers of Sexual and Reproductive Health matters, in order to prevent and reduce the incidence of STD/HIV/AIDS and to minimize the social impacts of the epidemic on those affected and on the national education system in Mozambique
