The purpose of this workshop was to share information and learn from the experiences from different African universities in view of addressing the need for the universities to respond to the impact of HIV/AIDS through curriculum reforms. The theme of the workshop fell within the wider UNESCO project on Prevention Education for African universities which seek to create awareness among the Faculties of Science and Engineering on the need and importance of responding to the impacts of HIV/AIDS and finding long lasting solutions to the pandemic. The participating universities made presentations on the various activities that they are involved in under their respective AIDS Control Units (ACUs). Universities that had already initiated efforts in integrating and mainstreaming HIV/AIDS common courses into their Biological, Physical and Technical Science curricular also had the opportunity to have their courses reviewed.
