National laws and education policies play a key role in establishing an enabling environment for the development and implementation of quality sexuality education programs. It is from this perspective that this study examines the integration of issues related to sexual and reproductive health and gender equality into the legislation and educational policies and strategies. The study aims to guide the strengthening of national legal and policy frameworks by shedding useful light on existing strengths and on aspects that can be reinforced, in order to create an environment conducive to national sexuality education programs. In Nigeria, the Federal Ministry of Education addresses early and unintended pregnancies, HIV and all topics related to sexuality in the Family Life and HIV Education (FLHE) curriculum.
