In 2024, UNICEF and WFP came together to assess the extent of their collaboration on school health and nutrition in Eastern and Southern Africa. The result was the documentation of three country case studies that demonstrate the collaboration in action for school-age children and adolescents in Zimbabwe, South Sudan and Malawi. Reaching school age children and adolescents with services in South Sudan to support their healthy growth and development is an immense challenge. Increasing school enrolment and attendance not only improves education outcomes, but also provides an opportunity to use schools as a platform to deliver multiple sector services to ensure multiple positive outcomes. This case study demonstrates how this has been done in South Sudan in the context of the Joint Resilience Programme.
