"Stronger than the storm" is a moving story about dealing with issues of sexual abuse and HIV and AIDS in a sensitive manner. The novel tells the story of a young growing girl in the Cape township of Guguletu. She tells the story of her childhood in a community which was affected by apartheid repression and its many consequences. This novel can be used by teachers, as part of an HIV and AIDS education programme for secondary school learners. The accompanying "Teacher's Guide" provides guidelines for using the novel to teach young people about HIV and AIDS, and includes many activity sheets that can be copied.
